    Description

What Is an Automatic Flexural Testing Machine?

The Automatic Flexural Testing Machine determines the flexural strength of hardened concrete and natural stone specimens. The machine applies load to the specimen at a controlled rate and records the maximum load reached during failure.

The product family includes 100, 200, 300 and 400 kN capacity configurations. This allows laboratories to test different products ranging from concrete beams to kerbstones, paving blocks and natural stone specimens.

U-Type frames provide a practical configuration for routine flexural testing. C-Type and Two-Column frames offer alternative working geometries for larger or differently shaped specimens.

    Automatic Hydraulic Loading System

The hydraulic power unit controls the loading rate between approximately 1 and 20 kN/s.

At the beginning of the test, the system performs a rapid approach to bring the loading components into position. Once the required contact and initial load conditions are reached, the machine automatically switches to the selected test rate.

The hydraulic system maintains the programmed loading rate with approximately ±5% accuracy.

When specimen failure occurs, the loading cycle stops automatically. This reduces operator intervention and helps create repeatable test conditions between successive specimens.

    Digital Data Acquisition and Control

The digital data acquisition system displays the applied load and loading rate during the test.

A real-time load-time graph allows the operator to monitor specimen behaviour throughout the loading cycle. Test information can also be stored for later evaluation.

Compatible PC software supports data storage, comparison and reporting. This is particularly useful when laboratories need to evaluate different concrete mixtures, production batches or specimen types.

    Three-Point and Four-Point Flexural Testing

The concrete beam flexural test assembly supports different loading configurations.

Suitable accessories allow three-point and four-point flexural testing of concrete beams. The system can work with common 100 mm and 150 mm beam sections.

The lower support span can be adjusted approximately between 100 and 800 mm, allowing the test arrangement to be configured according to specimen geometry and the applicable standard.

Tests for Kerbstones, Slabs and Natural Stone

Different accessories expand the use of the Automatic Flexural Testing Machine beyond standard concrete beams.

The LT-C0651 test assembly supports testing of concrete kerbstones according to EN 1340.

The LT-C0652 assembly is designed for concrete roofing products, mosaics, natural stone kerbs and slabs. Depending on the specimen, the relevant references include EN 1339, EN 1343 and EN 12372.

This modular structure allows one loading system to support several construction-material test applications.

    Splitting Tensile Test Accessories

Suitable accessories also allow the machine to perform splitting tensile strength tests.

The LT-C0653 supports 150 × 150 mm concrete cube specimens.

The LT-C0654 is intended for concrete paving blocks with heights between approximately 60 and 150 mm and maximum lengths up to 220 mm.

    The LT-C0655 supports cylindrical specimens including Ø100 × 200 mm, Ø150 × 300 mm and Ø160 × 320 mm sizes.

This configuration expands the system beyond flexural testing and allows laboratories to perform additional mechanical strength evaluations.

    Class 1 Measurement Performance

The standard measuring configuration provides Class 1 accuracy from approximately 2% of full machine capacity.

Different load-cell options are available with 10, 20, 30 and 40 kN capacities. These options allow laboratories to select a measurement range that better matches lower-load applications.

An optional high-precision pressure transducer can also be integrated when required.

    Testing According to International Standards

EN 12390-5 covers the determination of flexural strength of hardened concrete specimens.

EN 12390-6 covers splitting tensile strength testing of concrete.

The product family also supports applications associated with EN 1338 and EN 1340 for paving blocks and kerbstones.

ASTM references include ASTM C78/C78M for third-point loading, ASTM C293/C293M for center-point loading and ASTM C496/C496M for splitting tensile strength of cylindrical concrete specimens.

    Reliable Automatic Flexural Testing

The Automatic Flexural Testing Machine combines 100–400 kN capacity options, automatic hydraulic loading, digital data acquisition and modular test accessories.

U-Type, C-Type and Two-Column loading frames provide flexibility for different specimen geometries and laboratory requirements.

As a result, the system allows laboratories to perform controlled and repeatable mechanical testing on concrete beams, kerbstones, paving blocks, slabs, cubes, cylinders and natural stone products using a single flexible testing platform.
