LT-S0175 Water Level Meter
The Water Level Meter is designed for direct measurement of water levels in boreholes, monitoring wells, water wells and reservoirs. An electrical contact probe detects the water surface and activates an audible and visual signal. The operator then reads the depth directly from the graduated measuring tape.
- Water level measurement: Determines static water levels in wells and boreholes.
- Electrical contact probe: Detects contact between the probe and the water surface.
- Audible signal: Alarm activates when the probe reaches the water.
- Visual indicator: Light signal provides an additional indication of water contact.
- Direct depth reading: Water depth is read directly from the graduated measuring tape.
- Borehole applications: Suitable for groundwater investigations and drilling works.
- Monitoring wells: Supports periodic groundwater-level monitoring.
- Water wells: Allows direct measurement of the water surface in accessible wells.
- Reservoir applications: Can be used where direct level measurement is appropriate.
- Pumping test support: Helps monitor changes in water level during pumping operations.
- Portable design: Compact construction supports field use.
- External dimensions: 25 × 25 × 25 cm.
- Approximate weight: 6 kg.
- Product code: LT-S0175.

What Is a Water Level Meter?
The Water Level Meter is a portable field instrument used to determine the depth of the water surface in wells, boreholes and monitoring installations.
The LT-S0175 operates with an electrical contact probe attached to a graduated measuring tape. The operator lowers the probe into the well or borehole until it reaches the water surface. When contact occurs, the instrument provides an audible and visual indication.
The operator then reads the corresponding depth directly from the measuring tape.
This simple measuring principle makes the instrument suitable for groundwater investigations, drilling operations, monitoring programmes and pumping-test observations.
Electrical Contact Probe
The LT-S0175 uses an electrical probe to detect the water surface.
As the probe is lowered into the borehole, the circuit remains inactive while the probe is above the water. Once the probe contacts the water, electrical conductivity completes the detection circuit.
The instrument immediately activates an audible alarm and indicator light. The operator can therefore identify the water surface without relying only on visual observation inside the well.
After the signal is obtained, the measuring tape is read at a fixed reference point at the top of the borehole or well casing.
Direct Water Depth Measurement
The graduated tape allows the measurement result to be read directly in metres and centimetres.
For repeatable monitoring, the same reference point should be used whenever measurements are repeated at the same well. This makes it easier to compare groundwater-level changes over time.
The current LİYA data does not specify the total tape length or its graduation resolution. Therefore, the required measuring depth should be confirmed before ordering when the instrument will be used in deep boreholes.
Boreholes and Monitoring Wells
The Water Level Meter can be used in drilling holes, groundwater monitoring wells and observation tubes.
Regular water-level measurements can help identify seasonal changes, groundwater response to rainfall and variations caused by nearby pumping activity.
The compact measuring system also allows technicians to move between several monitoring points during the same field programme.
Pumping Test Applications
The LT-S0175 can also support water-level observations during pumping tests.
Before pumping begins, the operator can determine the initial static water level. Further measurements can then be taken during pumping to monitor drawdown and after pumping to observe recovery.
ASTM D4050-20 covers field procedures for withdrawal and injection well testing and specifically includes measurement of water levels as part of aquifer-testing procedures. However, it is an application/test-method reference rather than a product conformity standard for the LT-S0175.
Portable Field Design
The LT-S0175 has external dimensions of 25 × 25 × 25 cm and weighs approximately 6 kg.
Its compact construction makes the unit suitable for transport between drilling sites, groundwater monitoring locations and water wells.
Because the water-contact point is indicated by both sound and light, the operator can quickly identify the measuring position during field use.
Overall, the Water Level Meter provides a practical solution for direct measurement of groundwater levels in wells, boreholes and monitoring installations.
