Automatic Vicat Apparatus for Setting Time Testing
The Automatic Vicat Apparatus determines the initial and final setting times of cement, mortar and suitable gypsum-based materials. The system performs penetration measurements automatically at programmed intervals. Therefore, laboratories can monitor the hardening process with less operator intervention.
A precision sensor measures penetration depth with 0.1 mm resolution. As the specimen hardens, the penetration depth gradually decreases. The control system evaluates these measurements and determines the relevant setting times according to the selected test procedure.
Automatic Penetration Measurement
During the test, a calibrated needle or probe drops onto the specimen at defined intervals. The machine then measures the penetration depth and records the result.
After each measurement, the system can move to another test position. This process prevents repeated penetration at exactly the same point and creates a more controlled test sequence.
Automatic operation also reduces differences caused by manual timing and reading.
Digital Test Control
The operator enters the required test parameters through the control interface. These settings can include penetration intervals, test delays and the selected test procedure.
The system continuously records penetration values throughout the test. When the measured depth reaches the limits defined by the selected method, the apparatus determines the initial and final setting times.
Cement, Mortar and Gypsum Applications
The apparatus supports different needles, probes and moulds according to the material and standard.
For cement applications, suitable Vicat needles and consistency probes can be installed. Additional accessories also allow the system to support mortar and gypsum-based testing procedures.
