    Description

Le Chatelier Water Bath for Cement Soundness Testing

The Le Chatelier Water Bath provides controlled boiling conditions for determining the soundness of cement and suitable building-lime specimens. The unit is used together with Le Chatelier moulds to expose prepared samples to the heating cycle required by the selected test method.

Soundness testing helps identify excessive expansion that may occur after cement has started to harden. Stable temperature conditions are therefore important for obtaining comparable results.

    Dual-Heater Rapid Boiling System

The unit uses two independent heating elements during the initial heating stage. Both heaters operate together to bring the water to boiling point in approximately 30 minutes.

Rapid heating reduces preparation time and allows laboratories to complete routine soundness tests more efficiently.

Once boiling temperature is reached, the control system changes the heating condition automatically.

    Programmable Timer Control

The operator sets the required heating period using the timer control. When the programmed period is completed, the system switches off one of the heating elements.

The remaining heater continues operating to maintain the water near boiling temperature. This arrangement reduces unnecessary power consumption while keeping the test environment stable.

    12-Mould Removable Rack

The Le Chatelier Water Bath includes a removable rack capable of holding up to 12 Le Chatelier moulds at the same time.

The operator can arrange the prepared specimens on the rack before lowering the complete assembly into the bath. After testing, the entire rack can be removed for easier specimen handling.

Le Chatelier moulds are separate test accessories and should be selected according to the required laboratory configuration.

    Stainless Steel Water Chamber

The internal chamber is manufactured from stainless steel to provide resistance against hot water, steam and continuous laboratory use.

The insulated external construction helps reduce heat loss during the boiling cycle. This design supports more stable heating conditions and improves energy efficiency during repeated tests.

Smooth internal surfaces also simplify draining and cleaning after testing.

    Compact Laboratory Design

The LT-CE0060 has external dimensions of 21 × 47 × 29 cm and weighs approximately 8 kg. Its compact construction allows the unit to fit easily on a laboratory workbench.

    The system operates from a 220 V, 50–60 Hz, single-phase electrical supply.

EN 196-3 and ISO 9597 Soundness Testing

The Le Chatelier Water Bath supports soundness testing according to EN 196-3 and ISO 9597. Both methods include procedures for evaluating cement volume stability using Le Chatelier equipment.

Liya also lists EN 450-1 and EN 459-2 for fly ash and building-lime related applications, while the current English product listing additionally includes GOST 30744-2001.

As a result, the Le Chatelier Water Bath combines rapid heating, automatic timer control, stainless steel construction and a 12-mould rack for efficient and repeatable cement soundness testing.
