What Is a Hydraulic Universal Test Machine?
The Hydraulic Universal Test Machine is designed to determine the mechanical properties of metallic materials under tensile and compression loads. It is particularly suitable for reinforcing steel used in structural applications. Laboratories can determine values such as yield strength, tensile strength and maximum load under controlled test conditions.
Liya Test offers the system in 600 kN and 1000 kN capacities. This allows laboratories to select the appropriate machine according to specimen dimensions and expected maximum force.
Separate Tensile and Compression Test Areas
The machine incorporates separate working areas for tensile and compression testing. This design reduces the time required to change from one test configuration to another.
For tensile testing, the hydraulic grip system securely holds the specimen during loading. Standard gripping arrangements support 8–32 mm round specimens and flat specimens up to 40 mm. Suitable accessories can also extend the machine to different specimen geometries.
Hydraulic Loading and Gripping System
The hydraulic power system applies the test load in a controlled manner. The machine operates within a 2–18 mm/min test-speed range, while rigid structural components maintain alignment under high loads.
Independent hydraulic grips help reduce specimen slippage during tensile testing. The operator can also adjust the distance between the grips through the motor-driven control system.
Digital Measurement and Test Control
Load measurement is performed using a load cell, while deformation is monitored through an integrated electronic displacement sensor. An external extensometer can also be connected when direct strain measurement on the specimen is required.
Tests can be controlled through the digital control unit or a connected computer. Once the programmed test is completed, the machine can automatically return to its initial position. This functionality improves workflow during repeated laboratory testing.
600 kN and 1000 kN Models
The LT-U0600 provides a maximum capacity of 600 kN, while the LT-U1000 increases the available capacity to 1000 kN. Both models provide ±1% load reading accuracy and 0.01 mm displacement resolution.
The 600 kN model weighs approximately 1950 kg, while the 1000 kN model weighs approximately 2150 kg. Both systems have an overall height of approximately 2600 mm.
Standards for Metallic Material Testing
The machine supports EN ISO 15630-1 for reinforcing steel testing, EN ISO 6892-1 for tensile testing of metallic materials and EN ISO 7500-1 for verification and calibration of static uniaxial testing machines. Liya Test lists all three standards for this product series.
As a result, the Hydraulic Universal Test Machine combines high load capacity, hydraulic gripping and digital measurement in a single system. It provides material-testing laboratories with a practical solution for repeatable tensile and compression testing.
