    Description

Cement Compression Flexural Machine for Mortar Strength Testing

The Cement Compression Flexural Machine determines the compressive and flexural strength of cement mortar specimens under controlled loading conditions. The LT-CE0100 uses two independent testing frames: a 15 kN flexural frame and a 250 kN compression frame. This arrangement allows laboratories to perform both tests without converting a single loading frame between widely different capacities.

    Independent Compression and Flexural Frames

The flexural frame is designed for mortar prisms such as 40 × 40 × 160 mm specimens. After the flexural test, the broken prism portions can be transferred to the compression side when the applicable test method requires it.

The 250 kN compression frame provides the higher force range required for mortar compression testing. Separate load-measuring systems improve suitability for both low-force flexural tests and higher-force compression measurements.

    Automatic Loading Control

After the specimen is positioned and centred, the operator selects the required test parameters and starts the machine.

The hydraulic system initially performs a rapid approach. Once the defined load level is reached, the machine automatically changes to the programmed test rate. When specimen failure occurs, loading stops automatically. This reduces manual intervention and helps maintain similar loading conditions between tests.

    Different Compression and Flexural Jigs

The system accepts several test accessories. A dedicated flexural jig supports 40 × 40 × 160 mm mortar prisms. Compression jigs are available for 50 mm cubes, portions of broken 40 × 40 × 160 mm prisms and 70.7 mm mortar cubes.

Different distance pieces also allow the working space to be adapted to the selected test assembly.

    Digital Data Acquisition

The hydraulic power pack works together with the digital data acquisition and control system. During testing, the operator can monitor load development and test progress.

Computer-based testing also supports graphical analysis, result storage and reporting. Therefore, laboratories can maintain more organized records for routine quality-control work.

    Cement Strength Test Standards

ISO 679:2009 specifies compressive and optional flexural strength testing of standard cement mortar and remains current after its 2025 review.

For ASTM applications, ASTM C348-21 covers flexural strength of hydraulic-cement mortars. ASTM C349-24 covers compression testing of portions of prisms previously broken in flexure, while ASTM C109/C109M-26a covers compression testing using 50 mm mortar cubes.

As a result, the Cement Compression Flexural Machine combines separate loading frames, automatic hydraulic control and digital data acquisition for efficient and repeatable cement mortar strength testing.
