    Description

What Is a Digital Pull-Off Tester?

The Digital Pull-Off Tester measures the tensile bond strength between concrete layers and the adhesion strength of coatings applied to a substrate. The instrument applies a controlled tensile load to a metal disc bonded to the test surface.

As the load increases, the digital system displays the applied force. When separation occurs, the maximum load can be used to evaluate the bond or adhesion performance of the tested system.

This method is suitable for concrete surfaces, repair materials, cement render, lime plaster and other bonded construction coatings.

    10 kN Load Capacity

The LT-C0180 provides a maximum load capacity of 10 kN and operates across a working range of 0.1 to 10 kN.

This range supports routine adhesion testing on different construction materials and surface systems.

The digital indication allows the operator to monitor the applied tensile force directly during the test. As a result, field and laboratory teams can follow the loading process without relying on an analog gauge.

    Self-Aligning Loading Head

Correct alignment is important during a pull-off test. Off-axis loading can introduce bending forces and affect the result.

The instrument therefore uses a self-aligning loading head to help apply the tensile force axially and centrally through the bonded disc.

This design supports more consistent loading and reduces the effect of minor positioning differences during testing.

How Is a Pull-Off Adhesion Test Performed?

First, the operator selects and cleans the test area. A suitable metal disc is bonded to the prepared surface with the appropriate adhesive.

Depending on the test method, the surface around the disc may be cut using a suitable drill or coring tool. This isolates the test area from the surrounding material.

After the adhesive reaches sufficient strength, the tester is connected to the disc.

The operator then increases the tensile load gradually and continuously. The test continues until failure occurs.

The maximum load is recorded. The operator should also examine the failure location and failure mode, because separation may occur within the substrate, within the coating, at an interface or inside the adhesive layer.

    Concrete Layer Bond Testing

The Digital Pull-Off Tester can evaluate the bond between existing concrete and repair or overlay materials.

This capability is useful during concrete repair projects where the new material must develop adequate adhesion to the existing substrate.

EN 1542 covers the determination of pull-off strength for products and systems used in the protection and repair of concrete structures.

ASTM C1583/C1583M also covers tensile strength of concrete surfaces and the bond strength of concrete repair and overlay materials by direct tension.

Testing of Renders and Surface Coatings

The instrument can also evaluate the adhesion of cementitious and other construction coatings.

EN 1015-12 covers the determination of adhesive strength of hardened rendering and plastering mortars on substrates.

Other referenced methods support pull-off or adhesion testing for different materials and coating systems.

Therefore, the tester can be used across several construction-material quality-control applications when the correct accessories and test procedure are selected.

    Portable Battery-Powered Design

The instrument operates on battery power and does not require a continuous mains connection during testing.

This feature provides an important advantage for construction sites, façades, repair areas and remote test locations.

The LT-C0180 measures approximately 21 × 26 × 17 cm and weighs about 5 kg. Its compact design makes transportation between test points easier.

A protective carrying case is supplied with the instrument for storage and transport.

    Accessories for Different Test Applications

Metal pull-off discs, drill bits and adhesive are selected according to the required test method and surface material.

The product information lists 20 mm and 50 mm drilling accessories among the available options.

These accessories are not included in the standard instrument package and should be ordered separately according to the intended test application.

    Reliable Pull-Off Adhesion Measurement

The Digital Pull-Off Tester combines a 10 kN load capacity, digital measurement system, self-aligning loading head and portable battery-powered design.

As a result, laboratories and field teams can evaluate the bond between concrete layers and the adhesion of surface coatings directly at the application area.

The LT-C0180 provides a practical solution for quality control, repair assessment and adhesion testing across a wide range of construction materials and surface systems.
