LT-A0095 Universal Sample Splitter
Universal Sample Splitter is designed to reduce large aggregate samples into smaller, representative test portions for laboratory testing. The adjustable chute system allows the slot width to be changed from 12.5 mm to 100 mm in 12.5 mm increments, making the unit suitable for different aggregate particle sizes. A 20 litre sample hopper and two collection containers provide practical and controlled sample preparation.

What Is a Universal Sample Splitter?
The Universal Sample Splitter is designed to reduce bulk aggregate samples into smaller and more manageable laboratory test portions. The objective is to obtain a reduced sample that represents the important characteristics of the original material as closely as possible.
Representative sample preparation is essential because laboratory results can be affected when a test portion does not properly reflect the bulk sample. The splitter therefore provides a controlled mechanical method for dividing aggregate before grading, density, strength or other laboratory tests are performed.
Adjustable 12.5–100 mm Chute System
The splitter features an adjustable chute arrangement starting at 12.5 mm. The opening can be increased in 12.5 mm increments up to 100 mm.
This adjustable design allows the operator to configure the unit according to the maximum particle size of the material being processed.
Before sample reduction begins, the required chute width is selected. The aggregate is then introduced through the hopper and distributed through the splitting system.
20 Litre Sample Hopper
The Universal Sample Splitter is equipped with a 20 litre sample hopper, allowing relatively large aggregate quantities to be processed efficiently.
The hopper directs the material toward the chute system in a controlled manner. As the aggregate passes through the splitter, the material is separated into two portions.
The unit is supplied with two sample collection containers, allowing both portions to be collected without unnecessary material loss.
Why Is Representative Sample Reduction Important?
A test portion taken randomly from a large aggregate batch may contain a different particle-size distribution from the original material. This can influence laboratory results.
Controlled splitting helps reduce this variation. The operator can repeat the splitting process until the required laboratory sample quantity is obtained.
This approach is especially useful in aggregate laboratories, quarries, concrete plants and material-testing facilities where consistent sample preparation is required.
Mechanical and Robust Design
The LT-A0095 Universal Sample Splitter operates mechanically and does not require electricity, software or electronic controls.
Its external dimensions are approximately 74 × 48.5 × 99 cm, while the total weight is about 50 kg. The robust construction supports routine laboratory use and repeated sample preparation.
Standards for Sample Reduction
The product supports sample preparation procedures associated with EN 932-2 and ASTM C702/C702M. Liya Test also lists BS 812-1, BS 1377-1 and BS 1924-1 for this model.
The Universal Sample Splitter combines adjustable chute widths, a large sample hopper and dual collection containers in one mechanical system. As a result, laboratories can prepare representative aggregate test portions in a practical and repeatable manner.
