LT-M0075      Micum Drum Test Apparatus

    Categories: ,
    PRODUCT DETAILS

The Micum Drum Test Apparatus is designed to determine the mechanical strength of coke with a particle size greater than 20 mm. The rotating drum subjects the sample to controlled impact and abrasion, allowing laboratories to evaluate coke resistance to breakage and degradation.

    • Coke mechanical strength testing: Evaluates degradation caused by controlled impact and abrasion.
    • For coke above 20 mm: Designed for samples within the scope of ISO 556.
    • Large test drum: Equipped with a cylindrical drum with internal dimensions of approximately Ø100 × 100 cm.
    • 780 litre nominal capacity: Provides a large internal volume for standard coke testing.
    • 25 rpm drum speed: Rotates at approximately 25 revolutions per minute.
    • Digital revolution counter: Allows the operator to preset the required number of drum revolutions.
    • Automatic stop: The machine stops when the programmed revolution count is reached.
    • Gear-driven system: A geared drive transfers motor power to the drum.
    • 1.5 HP motor: Motor speed is approximately 1400 rpm.
    • Heavy-duty construction: The complete unit weighs approximately 950 kg.
    • Power supply: Operates with 380 V, 50–60 Hz, 3 Ph.
    • Standards compliance: Supports coke mechanical-strength testing according to ISO 556:2020 and Liya’s listed TS 1611 March 1986 reference.

    Description

What Is a Micum Drum Test Apparatus?

The Micum Drum Test Apparatus determines the mechanical strength of coke samples with a particle size greater than 20 mm. The test subjects the coke to controlled mechanical impact and abrasion inside a rotating cylindrical drum.

After the specified number of revolutions, the material is removed and classified by sieving. The resulting size distribution provides information about the coke’s resistance to breakage and abrasion.

ISO 556:2020 is the current international standard for determining the mechanical strength of coke greater than 20 mm in size. The 2020 edition replaced ISO 556:1980.

    Ø100 × 100 cm Test Drum

The LT-M0075 is equipped with a cylindrical test drum having internal dimensions of approximately Ø100 × 100 cm.

Liya Test lists the nominal drum capacity as 780 litres. This large working volume provides the space required for the coke sample to fall, impact and abrade during rotation.

The drum rotates at approximately 25 rpm, creating repeatable mechanical action throughout the test. Liya’s published specifications also list this rotational speed for the LT-M0075.

    Digital Revolution Control

A digital revolution counter allows the operator to select the required number of drum rotations before starting the test.

The counter continuously monitors drum revolutions and automatically stops the machine once the preset value has been reached. This eliminates the need for manual counting and helps maintain consistent test conditions between different coke samples.

    Micum Mechanical Strength Testing

During a Micum test, a prepared coke sample is placed inside the drum and exposed to repeated mechanical impact.

After tumbling, the sample is sieved to determine the degree of degradation. The historical ISO 556 method describes evaluation after 100 drum revolutions for the Micum test, with an additional longer tumbling procedure associated with the Irsid test.

The resulting indices provide information about the coke’s resistance to fragmentation and abrasion. These values are useful for comparing coke batches and evaluating material quality.

    Heavy-Duty Drive System

The drum is powered by a 1.5 HP electric motor operating at approximately 1400 rpm. A gearbox reduces the motor speed and transfers controlled rotation to the test drum.

The complete machine weighs approximately 950 kg, providing a stable base during repeated drum rotation. The LT-M0075 operates with a 380 V, 50–60 Hz, three-phase electrical supply according to Liya’s current Turkish technical table.

Coke Testing According to ISO 556

The Micum Drum Test Apparatus is directly associated with ISO 556, unlike the Disc Mill and other grinding products where this standard had been copied incorrectly.

The current version, ISO 556:2020, specifies determination of the mechanical strength of coke greater than 20 mm. Liya Test also continues to list TS 1611 March 1986 for the LT-M0075.

Overall, the LT-M0075 Micum Drum Test Apparatus combines a large Ø100 × 100 cm drum, controlled 25 rpm rotation, digital revolution counting and automatic stop. Therefore, coke laboratories can perform mechanical strength testing under controlled and repeatable conditions.
