What Is a Marshall Stability Test Machine?
The Marshall Stability Test Machine determines the stability and flow properties of bituminous mixture specimens. The system applies a controlled load to a prepared Marshall specimen and continuously records both load and deformation.
Marshall stability represents the maximum load carried by the specimen during testing. The flow value indicates the deformation that occurs as the specimen reaches this maximum load. These results provide important information for asphalt mix design and production quality control.
50 kN Load Measurement
The LT-AS0050 uses a 50 kN capacity load cell mounted on a rigid loading frame. The load cell continuously measures the force applied to the specimen throughout the test.
A robust motor and loading mechanism move the lower platen in a controlled manner. The rigid frame helps maintain stable test conditions and supports repeatable measurements between different specimens.
Constant Loading Speed and Flow Measurement
The motorised loading system operates at a constant speed of 50.8 mm/min. This controlled movement allows the test to proceed under standardised loading conditions.
A 25 × 0.01 mm displacement sensor monitors specimen movement during loading. The system collects load and displacement data simultaneously. Therefore, operators can obtain both stability and flow results without separate manual measurements.
TFT Touch Screen and Real-Time Graphs
The control system features a colour TFT touch screen with an 800 × 480 pixel display. Operators can manage test parameters directly from the control unit.
The screen can display load-time, load-displacement and related test curves in real time. The system also provides data storage and result management functions, making routine laboratory testing easier to organise.
Automatic Calculation and Reporting
The integrated software automatically calculates Marshall stability and flow values when the test is completed. Digital data recording reduces manual calculation requirements and makes comparison between specimens easier.
The system also supports computer connection and advanced report preparation. This functionality is useful for asphalt production laboratories, universities, road laboratories and R&D centres.
Different Testing Accessories
The standard configuration uses a breaking head for Ø100 mm Marshall specimens. A breaking head for Ø150 mm specimens is also available.
The optional LT-AS0050/4 Indirect Tensile Splitting Device supports testing of Ø100 mm specimens for additional asphalt laboratory applications.
Marshall Testing According to Standards
The Marshall Stability Test Machine supports testing associated with EN 12697-34, EN 12697-23, ASTM D6927 and AASHTO T245. Liya Test’s current Turkish product page also lists ASTM D1559 and ASTM D5581 for the product family.
Overall, the LT-AS0050 Marshall Stability Test Machine combines a 50 kN load capacity, constant 50.8 mm/min test speed, precise displacement measurement and automatic digital control. Therefore, asphalt laboratories can determine stability and flow properties under controlled and repeatable test conditions.
