Flow Cone Set is designed to determine the fluidity and efflux time of grouts and other flowable cementitious materials. The stainless steel cone provides controlled discharge through interchangeable nozzles, while the rigid metal stand keeps the apparatus stable during testing. The standard configuration includes a Ø10 mm nozzle, with Ø8, Ø9, Ø11 and Ø13 mm alternatives available for different material consistencies.

Flow Cone Set for Grout Fluidity Testing
The Flow Cone Set is designed to determine the fluidity of cementitious grout by measuring its discharge time through a defined outlet. The operator fills the cone with a prepared sample and measures the time required for the material to flow from the apparatus.
This simple test provides useful information about grout consistency and workability. It also allows laboratories to compare different mixes under controlled conditions.
Stainless Steel Flow Cone
The cone is manufactured from stainless steel, providing resistance to moisture and repeated contact with cementitious materials. Its smooth internal surface helps the grout flow without unnecessary obstruction.
The cone is mounted vertically on a rigid metal stand. Stable positioning is important because an incorrectly aligned cone can influence discharge behaviour.
Interchangeable Nozzle Options
The standard set uses a Ø10 mm nozzle. Additional Ø8, Ø9, Ø11 and Ø13 mm nozzles are available for different materials and test configurations. Liya lists these nozzle sizes individually within the same product group.
The operator should always select the nozzle required by the applicable test method. Results obtained with different outlet diameters should not be compared as if they were produced under identical conditions.
How Is Flow Time Measured?
First, the operator prepares the grout according to the selected procedure. The 1.5 mm sieve can be used where required to prevent oversized particles from affecting the test.
The outlet is closed before the grout is poured into the cone. After filling, the operator opens the outlet and starts the stopwatch at the same time.
The grout then flows into a suitable receiving container. The elapsed time is recorded according to the selected method. Shorter discharge times generally indicate greater fluidity under the same test conditions.
EN 445:2007 Fluidity Test
EN 445:2007 covers test methods for grout used with prestressing tendons. Its fluidity section includes a cone method, allowing grout behaviour to be assessed from its flow characteristics. The standard is still listed as current by several European standards bodies.
ASTM C939/C939M-22 Flow Cone Method
ASTM C939/C939M-22 determines the efflux time of a specified volume of fluid hydraulic cement grout through a standardized flow cone. The method is intended for grouts with an efflux time of 35 seconds or less and may be used in both laboratory and field conditions.
ASTM also specifies a receiving container, stable cone support and stopwatch as part of the test arrangement.
As a result, the Flow Cone Set combines a durable stainless steel cone, interchangeable outlet options and a stable stand for practical and repeatable grout fluidity measurements.
