Wet Sieving Apparatus

STANDART:   EN 451-2; ASTM C430, D1514; AASHTO T192

LT-CE0090    Wet Sieving Apparatus

    PRODUCT DETAILS

Wet Sieving Apparatus is designed to determine the fineness of fly ash and hydraulic cement by wet sieving through a 45 µm sieve. The system uses a controlled water spray to wash fine particles through the sieve while retaining the coarser fraction for evaluation. Its stainless steel sieve, dedicated spray nozzle and integrated pressure gauge provide stable and repeatable laboratory test conditions.

    • 45 µm Stainless Steel Sieve: Uses a 0.045 mm sieve opening for fineness determination.
    • Fly Ash Fineness Testing: Supports wet-sieving determination according to EN 451-2.
    • Hydraulic Cement Testing: Suitable for 45 µm sieve fineness testing.
    • Controlled Water Spray: Distributes water uniformly over the specimen.

    Description

Wet Sieving Apparatus for 45 µm Fineness Testing

The Wet Sieving Apparatus determines the fineness of fly ash and hydraulic cement by washing a prepared sample through a 45 µm sieve. The method separates fine particles from the material retained on the sieve. Laboratories can then determine the percentage of residue and compare different production batches.

The apparatus combines a corrosion-resistant sieve, controlled spray nozzle and pressure gauge in one compact system. Therefore, users can maintain more consistent washing conditions during repeated fineness tests.

    45 µm Stainless Steel Sieve

The apparatus uses a stainless steel sieve with a 0.045 mm opening. This size corresponds to the 45 µm sieve used in fly ash and hydraulic cement fineness testing.

EN 451-2:2017 specifically defines wet sieving of fly ash using a 0.045 mm sieve. The standard remains current and describes this procedure as the reference method for fly ash fineness determination.

    Controlled Spray Nozzle

A dedicated Ø17.5 mm spray nozzle directs water across the sieve surface. The nozzle contains 17 holes, each Ø0.5 mm, arranged to provide controlled water distribution.

Uniform spraying helps move fine particles through the sieve while reducing irregular washing caused by manual water application. This improves consistency between different tests.

    Water Pressure Monitoring

The apparatus includes an Ø80 mm pressure gauge. The operator can monitor water pressure throughout the test and maintain the required operating condition.

Stable pressure is important because excessive or insufficient water flow may influence the washing process. Therefore, laboratories should verify the pressure before each test series.

Fly Ash and Hydraulic Cement Applications

For fly ash, EN 451-2:2017 defines the wet-sieving method used to determine fineness.

For hydraulic cement, ASTM C430-26 covers determination of fineness using the 45 µm (No. 325) sieve. The current ASTM edition also specifies requirements for the sieve, nozzle and pressure gauge used in the test arrangement.

    Compact Laboratory Design

The LT-CE0090 has external dimensions of 250 × 150 × 150 mm and weighs approximately 2 kg. Its compact structure allows the apparatus to be installed close to a laboratory water connection without occupying excessive bench space.

As a result, the Wet Sieving Apparatus combines a 45 µm stainless steel sieve, controlled spray system and pressure monitoring in one practical solution for repeatable fineness testing.
