LT-CE0610    Slaking Vessel

    PRODUCT DETAILS

Slaking Vessel is designed for the controlled slaking of quicklime with water and for determining the resulting quicklime yield. Its double-wall stainless steel construction limits heat loss during the exothermic reaction and provides stable test conditions. The cylindrical chamber has an internal size of Ø113 × 140 mm, while the insulated lid helps reduce heat and vapour loss during testing.

    • Quicklime Yield Testing: Supports determination of the volume obtained after controlled slaking.
    • Double-Wall Construction: Helps limit heat transfer to the surrounding environment.
    • Stainless Steel Body: Provides resistance to water, lime and routine laboratory use.
    • Internal Chamber Size: Ø113 × 140 mm.
    • Insulated Design: Supports more stable thermal conditions during the reaction.
    • Protective Lid: Helps reduce heat and vapour loss.
    • Simple Mechanical Operation: Requires no electrical connection.
    • Easy Cleaning: Smooth stainless steel surfaces simplify maintenance.

    Description

Slaking Vessel for Quicklime Yield Testing

The Slaking Vessel is designed for controlled quicklime slaking and yield determination in accordance with EN 459-2:2021. The vessel allows laboratory personnel to mix quicklime with water under defined conditions and evaluate the volume of hydrated product obtained after the reaction.

Quicklime reacts strongly with water and releases heat. Therefore, the test requires a vessel that limits unnecessary heat loss and maintains stable conditions throughout the reaction.

    Double-Wall Stainless Steel Construction

The vessel features a double-wall stainless steel body. The insulated construction helps reduce heat transfer between the reaction chamber and the surrounding laboratory environment.

Stainless steel also provides good resistance to repeated contact with water and lime. In addition, the smooth internal surface simplifies cleaning after each test.

    Ø113 × 140 mm Internal Chamber

The cylindrical test chamber has an internal diameter of 113 mm and a depth of 140 mm. This geometry provides a defined volume for quicklime slaking and yield evaluation.

Consistent vessel dimensions help laboratories compare different quicklime samples under similar conditions. Therefore, the operator should keep the chamber clean and free from hardened lime residue before each new test.

    Controlled Quicklime Slaking

First, the operator prepares the required quantity of quicklime. Water is then added according to the selected test procedure.

The reaction begins immediately and releases heat. The insulated vessel helps keep this heat within the test system. The lid also limits unnecessary heat and vapour loss.

After the reaction reaches the required stage, the resulting hydrated material is evaluated according to the prescribed yield procedure.

    Quicklime Yield Determination

Quicklime yield indicates the volume of hydrated product obtained from a defined amount of quicklime. This result helps manufacturers and laboratories compare raw material quality and production consistency.

A stable test environment is especially important because heat loss, water quantity and reaction conditions can influence the result.

    EN 459-2:2021 Compliance

EN 459-2:2021 covers test methods for building lime. The standard includes chemical and physical testing procedures and identifies the quicklime yield method in Clause 7.7. The Slaking Vessel itself appears in Clause 7.7.1.

As a result, the Slaking Vessel combines a compact insulated body, stainless steel construction and standard chamber geometry for reliable quicklime yield testing.
