    Description

What Is a Concrete Pipe Testing Machine?

The Concrete Pipe Testing Machine is designed to determine the load-bearing performance of concrete sewer and drainage pipes under controlled loading conditions. The machine applies force to the pipe while a load cell continuously measures the applied load.

Liya Test offers 600 kN and 1000 kN configurations. The LT-U0660 model accommodates pipes with outside diameters from 200 to 2000 mm and lengths up to 2000 mm. The higher-capacity LT-U1100 accepts outside diameters from 200 to 3700 mm and pipe lengths up to 3000 mm.

    Rigid Loading Frame

The loading frame uses two rigid columns to provide axial and lateral stability during testing. A load-controlled double-acting actuator is integrated into the upper crosshead.

The actuator provides a 300 mm stroke and incorporates an anti-rotation mechanism. The lower support has a 150° V-shaped internal angle, while the upper support can accommodate angular movement of up to ±8° in the vertical plane. This arrangement helps compensate for minor alignment differences between the machine and specimen.

    Automatic Hydraulic Loading

The hydraulic power unit uses a two-stage pump arrangement. A high-flow, low-pressure pump provides rapid approach before the test. The high-pressure stage then applies the required test load.

The operator can select loading rates between 1 and 20 kN/s, with Liya specifying approximately ±5% pace-rate control accuracy. The maximum hydraulic operating pressure is 410 bar.

    Digital Data Acquisition and Software

The digital control system processes data from the load cells and pressure sensors. During testing, the operator can monitor the instantaneous load, loading rate and load-time graph.

The supplied PC software allows specimen, company and laboratory information to be recorded. Test results and graphs can also be stored and reported. Start and stop commands may be controlled through the connected computer.

    EN 1916 Concrete Pipe Testing

EN 1916 specifies requirements and test methods for precast unreinforced, steel-fibre-reinforced and reinforced concrete pipes and fittings used primarily for sewage, rainwater and surface-water systems.

As a result, the Concrete Pipe Testing Machine combines high load capacity, rigid specimen support, automatic hydraulic loading and digital data management for repeatable concrete pipe testing.
