The frame guides the hammer vertically so that vibration energy is transferred to the specimen through the selected compaction head.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"4973\" data-end=\"5019\">Vibratory Compaction of Bituminous Mixtures<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"5021\" data-end=\"5122\">Vibratory compaction is one of the laboratory methods used to produce compacted bituminous specimens.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5124\" data-end=\"5448\"><strong data-start=\"5124\" data-end=\"5147\">BS EN 12697-32:2019<\/strong> specifically covers the preparation of bituminous test specimens using a <strong data-start=\"5221\" data-end=\"5244\">vibratory compactor<\/strong>. The method can be used with loose mixtures and cores and can support determination of refusal density or evaluation of compactability. The standard remains current.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5450\" data-end=\"5672\">The operator places the prepared mixture into the corresponding mould and positions the correct compaction head above the specimen. The vibratory hammer then transfers repeated vibration through the head into the material.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"5674\" data-end=\"5710\">\u00d8102 and \u00d8146 mm Compaction Heads<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"5712\" data-end=\"5768\">The LT-AS0111 system includes two compaction-head sizes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5770\" data-end=\"5921\">The <strong data-start=\"5774\" data-end=\"5811\">LT-AS0111\/4 Small Compaction Head<\/strong> has a diameter of <strong data-start=\"5830\" data-end=\"5841\">\u00d8102 mm<\/strong>, while the <strong data-start=\"5853\" data-end=\"5890\">LT-AS0111\/5 Large Compaction Head<\/strong> has a diameter of <strong data-start=\"5909\" data-end=\"5920\">\u00d8146 mm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5923\" data-end=\"6036\">Different head diameters allow the laboratory to adapt the system to different specimen and mould configurations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6038\" data-end=\"6175\">A <strong data-start=\"6040\" data-end=\"6078\">300 mm LT-AS0111\/6 Extension Shank<\/strong> connects the hammer to the selected compaction head and transfers the vibration to the specimen.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"6177\" data-end=\"6204\">37 kg Guided Moving Mass<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"6206\" data-end=\"6404\">L\u0130YA specifies that the hammer frame, hammer and compaction-head arrangement provides a <strong data-start=\"6294\" data-end=\"6338\">total moving mass of approximately 37 kg<\/strong> as required for the relevant EN vibratory compaction arrangement.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6406\" data-end=\"6651\">The supporting frame is manufactured from steel and protected against corrosion. It keeps the hammer and compaction head vertically aligned during operation and helps maintain a regular compaction direction.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6653\" data-end=\"6735\">The frame itself measures <strong data-start=\"6679\" data-end=\"6699\">51 \u00d7 30 \u00d7 112 cm<\/strong> and weighs approximately <strong data-start=\"6725\" data-end=\"6734\">45 kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"6737\" data-end=\"6776\">Proctor and CBR Specimen Preparation<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"6778\" data-end=\"6895\">The Vibratory Hammer Set can also be used with suitable accessories for preparation of <strong data-start=\"6865\" data-end=\"6894\">Proctor and CBR specimens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6897\" data-end=\"7174\">The test material is placed inside the selected mould and compacted according to the applicable laboratory procedure. L\u0130YA notes that a <strong data-start=\"7033\" data-end=\"7068\">CBR Type Modified Proctor Mould<\/strong> and related accessories should be ordered separately when required.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7176\" data-end=\"7432\">For unbound and hydraulically bound road mixtures, <strong data-start=\"7227\" data-end=\"7249\">BS EN 13286-2:2010<\/strong> remains the current Proctor compaction reference and defines laboratory reference density and water-content determination by Proctor compaction.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"7434\" data-end=\"7459\">Compactability Testing<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"7461\" data-end=\"7615\"><strong data-start=\"7461\" data-end=\"7484\">BS EN 12697-10:2017<\/strong> describes methods for characterizing the compactability of bituminous mixtures using impact, gyratory or <strong data-start=\"7590\" data-end=\"7614\">vibratory compaction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7617\" data-end=\"7865\">The relationship between compaction energy and resulting density or void content can be evaluated using the appropriate laboratory procedure.
