What Is a MOT Straight Edge?<\/h2>\n

The MOT Straight Edge<\/strong> is designed to measure local irregularities on road pavements, concrete surfaces, floors and other trafficked areas. Its rigid 3 metre measuring edge<\/strong> provides a reference plane for identifying gaps between the equipment and the tested surface.<\/p>\n

Surface regularity is an important quality parameter for newly constructed and existing pavements. Local depressions or elevations may indicate construction defects and can influence ride quality, drainage and pavement performance.<\/p>\n

The Liya Test LT-AS0120 MOT Straight Edge<\/strong> is manufactured from anodized aluminium alloy and is supplied with two steel measuring wedges.<\/p>\n

Three Metre Straightedge Test<\/h2>\n

During testing, the operator places the straightedge directly on the pavement surface. Any gap between the measuring edge and the pavement is then checked using a calibrated wedge.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the method is to determine the local deviation of the pavement from the plane created by the straightedge. EN 13036-7<\/strong> specifically covers irregularity measurement of pavement courses using the straightedge test.<\/p>\n

The standard method is based on a 3 metre straightedge<\/strong>, meaning the measurement represents local irregularity over that reference length rather than the overall longitudinal profile of an entire road section.<\/p>\n

Lightweight Anodized Aluminium Construction<\/h2>\n

The measuring profile is manufactured from anodized aluminium alloy. This material provides the rigidity required for surface measurements while keeping the equipment relatively lightweight.<\/p>\n

The complete LT-AS0120 weighs approximately 10 kg<\/strong>. Therefore, field personnel can move the device between test points without requiring powered handling equipment.<\/p>\n

Steel Measuring Wedges<\/h2>\n

The MOT Straight Edge is supplied with two steel wedges<\/strong>. These wedges are used to measure the vertical gap between the pavement and the lower measuring edge.<\/p>\n

The operator moves the wedge into the gap until the contact point is reached and reads the corresponding value. This simple mechanical method allows surface irregularities to be checked without electronic sensors or external power.<\/p>\n

Road and Pavement Applications<\/h2>\n

The MOT Straight Edge is suitable for asphalt roads, concrete pavements, floors, airfields and other trafficked surfaces<\/strong>. It can be used by road contractors, quality control teams, laboratories and infrastructure authorities.<\/p>\n

Because the system is completely mechanical, it is particularly practical for routine field inspection and acceptance checks.<\/p>\n

Testing According to EN 13036-7<\/h2>\n

The LT-AS0120 MOT Straight Edge<\/strong> supports testing according to EN 13036-7<\/strong>, which covers the straightedge method for measuring individual pavement irregularities. Liya Test lists EN 13036-7 as the applicable standard for this product.<\/p>\n

Overall, the MOT Straight Edge combines a 3 metre rigid aluminium profile, two steel measuring wedges and lightweight field construction<\/strong>. Therefore, road and pavement teams can identify local surface irregularities quickly and reliably.<\/p>\n
