What Is a Centrifuge Extractor?<\/h2>\n

The Centrifuge Extractor<\/strong> is used to determine the soluble binder content of bituminous mixtures. A suitable solvent dissolves the bitumen from the aggregate surface. High-speed centrifugal rotation then separates the binder-solvent solution from the remaining mineral material.<\/p>\n

Binder content directly affects asphalt mixture quality and compliance with the target mix design. Therefore, asphalt laboratories regularly verify binder percentages during production and quality control.<\/p>\n

Liya Test offers the system in 1500 g and 3000 g capacity<\/strong> versions, both with adjustable speeds up to 3600 rpm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Adjustable High-Speed Operation<\/h2>\n

The rotational speed can be adjusted continuously between 0 and 3600 rpm<\/strong>. This allows the operator to select suitable operating conditions according to sample quantity and extraction requirements.<\/p>\n

The AC drive provides controlled acceleration and braking. The centrifuge can automatically increase speed up to the selected value and stop within approximately 10\u201315 seconds<\/strong> after operation.<\/p>\n

Stable speed control supports repeatable extraction conditions between consecutive asphalt samples.<\/p>\n

Bitumen Extraction Process<\/h2>\n

The operator places the prepared asphalt sample inside the extractor bowl. A suitable solvent is then added to dissolve the bituminous binder from the aggregate particles.<\/p>\n

When the rotor starts, centrifugal force drives the binder-solvent solution through the filter medium and out of the bowl. The filter paper helps retain fine mineral particles while allowing the extracted solution to pass.<\/p>\n

After extraction, the remaining aggregate can be dried and weighed. Where permitted by the applicable procedure, recovered aggregate can also be used for subsequent particle size analysis.<\/p>\n

1500 and 3000 g Capacity Options<\/h2>\n

The LT-AS0004<\/strong> provides a sample capacity of 1500 g<\/strong>, making it suitable for routine laboratory quality control.<\/p>\n

The larger LT-AS0005<\/strong> offers a 3000 g capacity<\/strong> for laboratories requiring larger sample quantities. Both models share the same external dimensions of 65 \u00d7 45 \u00d7 55 cm<\/strong> and a weight of approximately 50 kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Each model is supplied with a capacity-matched bowl and cover.<\/p>\n

Precision Bowl and Sealed Cover<\/h2>\n

The extractor uses a precision-machined removable rotor bowl housed inside a robust enclosure. This construction supports stable rotation at high speeds.<\/p>\n

The cover incorporates a sealing gasket to help reduce leakage during extraction. The control panel provides simple start\/stop operation together with speed adjustment.<\/p>\n

Filter Papers and Accessories<\/h2>\n

Dedicated filter papers are available for both extractor capacities. The LT-AS0004\/1<\/strong> filter papers are intended for the 1500 g model, while LT-AS0005\/1<\/strong> is used with the 3000 g unit.<\/p>\n

Replacement bowls and covers are also available separately as LT-AS0004\/2<\/strong> and LT-AS0005\/2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Binder Extraction According to Standards<\/h2>\n

The Centrifuge Extractor<\/strong> supports quantitative binder extraction procedures associated with EN 12697-1, ASTM D2172\/D2172M and AASHTO T164 Method A<\/strong>. Liya Test also lists EN 13108 for this product family.<\/p>\n

Overall, the Centrifuge Extractor combines adjustable high-speed rotation, different sample capacities and dedicated extraction accessories. Therefore, asphalt laboratories can determine binder content efficiently under controlled and repeatable conditions.<\/p>\n
