What Is a Travelling Beam Device?<\/h2>\n

The Travelling Beam Device<\/strong> is designed to detect local surface irregularities in concrete and bituminous pavements. Its 3 metre long rigid beam<\/strong> travels along the road while a sensing wheel follows changes in the surface profile. Therefore, operators can quickly identify uneven areas during field quality control.<\/p>\n

Pavement regularity is an important factor in road construction and maintenance. Depressions, elevations and sudden profile changes can affect ride quality and indicate construction defects. The Travelling Beam Device provides a practical mechanical method for evaluating these irregularities directly on site.<\/p>\n

Three Metre Travelling Beam System<\/h2>\n

The system uses a rigid beam with a measuring length of approximately 3 metres<\/strong>. Outrigger wheels allow the unit to move smoothly along the pavement while maintaining stable contact with the surface.<\/p>\n

A central sensing wheel follows vertical changes in the pavement profile. Mechanical movement from this wheel is transferred to the measuring indicator, allowing the operator to observe local deviations as the device travels.<\/p>\n

4:1 Magnified Measuring Scale<\/h2>\n

Movement detected by the sensing wheel is displayed with a 4:1 magnification ratio<\/strong>. This mechanical amplification makes relatively small pavement variations easier to identify.<\/p>\n

The calibrated scale indicates deviations in 2 mm increments between 0 and 10 mm<\/strong>. For deviations between 10 and 25 mm<\/strong>, the scale uses 5 mm increments<\/strong>. This stepped measuring system provides a simple and clear method for evaluating different levels of surface irregularity.<\/p>\n

Integrated Surface Marking System<\/h2>\n

The Travelling Beam Device includes a manual dye marker. When the operator detects an unacceptable surface area, the marking mechanism can identify the location directly on the pavement.<\/p>\n

This feature makes it easier for construction and maintenance teams to locate the affected section after measurement. As a result, inspection and corrective work can be coordinated more efficiently.<\/p>\n

Practical Field Operation<\/h2>\n

The device is suitable for asphalt roads, concrete pavements and other trafficked surfaces<\/strong>. Its travelling-wheel configuration allows continuous inspection along the pavement rather than measuring only a single stationary point.<\/p>\n

The LT-AS0112 is supplied as separate sub-assemblies that can be assembled on site. This design supports easier transportation and field handling. An optional wooden carrying case can also be used for storage and transportation.<\/p>\n

Durable and Stable Construction<\/h2>\n

The rigid mechanical structure provides stable operation during pavement inspection. The complete LT-AS0112 has published dimensions of approximately 33 \u00d7 180 \u00d7 60 cm<\/strong> and a weight of 55 kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Its robust construction makes it suitable for road construction companies, pavement laboratories, public authorities and quality control teams working under field conditions.<\/p>\n

Road Surface Regularity Testing<\/h2>\n

Liya Test currently lists EN 12697-32, EN 13280-4 and BS 598-104<\/strong> for the Travelling Beam Device. The same standard combination also appears on comparable Travelling Beam equipment from ELE.<\/p>\n

Overall, the LT-AS0112 Travelling Beam Device<\/strong> combines a 3 metre rigid beam, 4:1 magnified indicator, graduated measuring scale and integrated surface marker<\/strong>. Therefore, operators can identify and mark local pavement irregularities quickly and practically during field inspections.<\/p>\n
