What Is a Thin Film Bitumen Oven?<\/h2>\n

The Thin Film Bitumen Oven<\/strong> evaluates the effect of heat and air on asphalt and bituminous binders. It can also be used to determine mass loss caused by heating. Therefore, laboratories can assess how bituminous materials change after controlled thermal exposure.<\/p>\n

During testing, specimens are exposed to controlled temperature and air circulation. A rotating platform moves the samples continuously inside the chamber. This arrangement helps create uniform and repeatable testing conditions.<\/p>\n

The LT-AS0041 Thin Film Bitumen (Loss on Heating) Oven<\/strong> operates from room temperature up to 200 \u00b0C<\/strong> and has a 120 litre chamber<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Precise Temperature Control<\/h2>\n

A digital PID controller continuously regulates the oven temperature. The operator sets the required temperature according to the applicable test procedure.<\/p>\n

Stable temperature control helps reduce variations between consecutive tests. In addition, the system includes audible and visual alarms for over-temperature conditions. This provides an additional level of operational safety during laboratory testing.<\/p>\n

Rotating Test Platform<\/h2>\n

The oven contains a motor-driven rotating platform operating at approximately 5\u20136 rpm<\/strong>. Continuous rotation exposes the specimens more evenly to heated air.<\/p>\n

Two different rotating shelves are available. The LT-AS0041\/1 \u00d8250 mm shelf<\/strong> supports loss-on-heating applications, while the LT-AS0041\/2 \u00d8342 mm shelf<\/strong> is intended for thin-film oven testing.<\/p>\n

Forced Air Circulation<\/h2>\n

An integrated circulation fan continuously moves hot air throughout the chamber. Ventilation openings also support controlled airflow inside the oven.<\/p>\n

Uniform air circulation helps minimise temperature differences between different areas of the chamber. Therefore, specimens can experience more consistent heating conditions throughout the test.<\/p>\n

Durable 120 Litre Chamber<\/h2>\n

The internal chamber has a capacity of approximately 120 litres<\/strong> and is manufactured from 304-grade stainless steel<\/strong>. This construction provides resistance to routine laboratory use and simplifies cleaning.<\/p>\n

The external cabinet is manufactured from electrostatic powder-coated sheet steel. A double-layer tempered glass front door allows the operator to observe specimens without opening the chamber.<\/p>\n

Sample Containers and Accessories<\/h2>\n

The oven can be supplied with different specimen containers according to the selected method.<\/p>\n

The LT-G0152 Moisture Content Tin<\/strong> measures \u00d855 \u00d7 35 mm<\/strong> and is supplied in packs of nine. The larger LT-G0157<\/strong> container measures \u00d8140 \u00d7 9.5 mm<\/strong> and is supplied in packs of four.<\/p>\n

Testing According to International Standards<\/h2>\n

The Thin Film Bitumen Oven<\/strong> supports laboratory procedures associated with EN 12607-2, EN 13303, ASTM D6, ASTM D1754, AASHTO T47 and AASHTO T179<\/strong>. Liya Test lists these standards for the LT-AS0041 product.<\/p>\n
