Le Chatelier Flask for Cement Density Testing<\/h1>\n

The Le Chatelier Flask<\/strong> is used to determine the density of hydraulic cement and suitable fine powder materials by the liquid displacement method. The operator records the liquid volume before and after introducing a known mass of material. The difference between the two readings represents the volume displaced by the specimen.<\/p>\n

Density can then be calculated from the measured mass and displaced volume. This simple test method provides useful data for cement quality control and concrete mixture calculations. ASTM C188-26<\/strong> specifically covers density and relative density determination of hydraulic cement using this principle.<\/p>\n

250 ml Glass Flask<\/h2>\n

The flask has a total capacity of 250 ml<\/strong>. Its narrow graduated neck provides accurate readings during liquid displacement testing.<\/p>\n

The lower graduated section covers 0 to 1 ml<\/strong>. A second graduated section located higher on the neck covers 18 to 24 ml<\/strong>. Both sections are divided into 0.1 ml intervals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This arrangement allows the operator to record relatively small changes in liquid level while still providing sufficient internal volume for the test material.<\/p>\n

Liquid Displacement Method<\/h2>\n

The operator first fills the flask with the appropriate test liquid to a point within the lower graduated section. The initial volume is then recorded.<\/p>\n

A previously weighed sample is gradually introduced into the flask. The material should be added carefully to reduce material loss and prevent particles from adhering excessively to the neck.<\/p>\n

After all material has been introduced, trapped air must be removed. The flask can be gently rolled or rotated until no additional bubbles rise from the sample.<\/p>\n

The final liquid level is then read from the upper graduation.<\/p>\n

Density Calculation<\/h2>\n

The difference between the final and initial liquid readings represents the volume displaced by the test sample.<\/p>\n

The laboratory calculates density by dividing the sample mass by this displaced volume. ASTM C188 describes this procedure for hydraulic cement and identifies the liquid displacement measurement as the basis of the calculation.<\/p>\n

Cement and Fine Powder Applications<\/h2>\n

Liya Test lists the Le Chatelier Flask<\/strong> for hydraulic cement as well as suitable blast-furnace slag, fly ash, fine aggregate filler and lime applications.<\/p>\n

For ground granulated blast-furnace slag, the related European material standard is EN 15167-1<\/strong>, not \u201cEN 15617-1\u201d.<\/p>\n

Compact Laboratory Design<\/h2>\n

The LT-CE0061<\/strong> measures approximately 10 \u00d7 10 \u00d7 30 cm<\/strong> and weighs only 0.1 kg<\/strong>. Its compact glass construction makes it suitable for routine benchtop measurements and easy storage when not in use.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Le Chatelier Flask<\/strong> provides a simple and precise method for determining material density through liquid displacement, with clearly graduated measurement sections and a compact laboratory design.<\/p>\n
