Slaking Vessel for Quicklime Yield Testing<\/h1>\n

The Slaking Vessel<\/strong> is designed for controlled quicklime slaking and yield determination in accordance with EN 459-2:2021<\/strong>. The vessel allows laboratory personnel to mix quicklime with water under defined conditions and evaluate the volume of hydrated product obtained after the reaction.<\/p>\n

Quicklime reacts strongly with water and releases heat. Therefore, the test requires a vessel that limits unnecessary heat loss and maintains stable conditions throughout the reaction.<\/p>\n

Double-Wall Stainless Steel Construction<\/h2>\n

The vessel features a double-wall stainless steel body<\/strong>. The insulated construction helps reduce heat transfer between the reaction chamber and the surrounding laboratory environment.<\/p>\n

Stainless steel also provides good resistance to repeated contact with water and lime. In addition, the smooth internal surface simplifies cleaning after each test.<\/p>\n

\u00d8113 \u00d7 140 mm Internal Chamber<\/h2>\n

The cylindrical test chamber has an internal diameter of 113 mm<\/strong> and a depth of 140 mm<\/strong>. This geometry provides a defined volume for quicklime slaking and yield evaluation.<\/p>\n

Consistent vessel dimensions help laboratories compare different quicklime samples under similar conditions. Therefore, the operator should keep the chamber clean and free from hardened lime residue before each new test.<\/p>\n

Controlled Quicklime Slaking<\/h2>\n

First, the operator prepares the required quantity of quicklime. Water is then added according to the selected test procedure.<\/p>\n

The reaction begins immediately and releases heat. The insulated vessel helps keep this heat within the test system. The lid also limits unnecessary heat and vapour loss.<\/p>\n

After the reaction reaches the required stage, the resulting hydrated material is evaluated according to the prescribed yield procedure.<\/p>\n

Quicklime Yield Determination<\/h2>\n

Quicklime yield indicates the volume of hydrated product obtained from a defined amount of quicklime. This result helps manufacturers and laboratories compare raw material quality and production consistency.<\/p>\n

A stable test environment is especially important because heat loss, water quantity and reaction conditions can influence the result.<\/p>\n

EN 459-2:2021 Compliance<\/h2>\n

EN 459-2:2021<\/strong> covers test methods for building lime. The standard includes chemical and physical testing procedures and identifies the quicklime yield method in Clause 7.7<\/strong>. The Slaking Vessel itself appears in Clause 7.7.1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
