What Is an SP2 Model Large Capacity Sample Splitter?<\/h1>\n

The Large Capacity Sample Splitter<\/strong> is designed to reduce bulk aggregate samples into smaller and more manageable portions while maintaining representative characteristics. Correct sample reduction is important because laboratory test results depend heavily on the quality of the sample selected from the original material.<\/p>\n

The SP2 model uses a mechanical splitting system to distribute the material through multiple channels. This approach helps reduce the risk of selecting a test portion that does not accurately represent the larger aggregate batch.<\/p>\n

EN 932-2<\/strong> specifically covers methods for reducing laboratory aggregate samples. The current BSI listing identifies BS EN 932-2:1999<\/strong> as the published standard for this purpose.<\/p>\n

25 Adjustable Splitting Channels<\/h2>\n

The SP2 model incorporates 25 individual channels<\/strong>. Their widths can be adjusted from 12.5 mm up to 100 mm<\/strong>, allowing the splitter to be configured according to the particle size of the material being processed.<\/p>\n

The operator selects an appropriate channel width before introducing the sample. Aggregate then passes through the splitter and is divided into smaller portions.<\/p>\n

Adjustable channels provide greater flexibility than fixed-width sample splitters, particularly in laboratories working with different aggregate gradations.<\/p>\n

20 Litre Hopper Capacity<\/h2>\n

A 20 litre sample hopper<\/strong> allows relatively large quantities of aggregate to be introduced into the splitter.<\/p>\n

The hopper helps distribute material into the channel system in a controlled manner. Once the aggregate passes through the channels, the reduced sample is collected in the supplied sample collection pan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Why Is Representative Sample Reduction Important?<\/h2>\n

A laboratory sample should reproduce the important characteristics of the original bulk material as closely as possible. Poor sample reduction can create differences in particle-size distribution or other measurable properties.<\/p>\n

The current ASTM C702\/C702M-24<\/strong> practice covers methods for reducing large aggregate samples to testing size while minimizing differences between the reduced portion and the original sample. ASTM currently lists the 2024 edition as active.<\/p>\n

Compact Mechanical Design<\/h2>\n

The LT-A0096<\/strong> measures 55 \u00d7 55 \u00d7 70 cm<\/strong> and weighs approximately 40 kg<\/strong>. Since the system operates mechanically, it requires no electrical supply or control unit.<\/p>\n

This straightforward design makes the splitter suitable for aggregate laboratories, concrete laboratories, mining applications and material-preparation facilities.<\/p>\n
